2. Introduction
---------------

   Supported Operating Systems
   ---------------------------

This EFI supports and can be used with the following operating
      systems:
	    HP-UX IA64, Linux IA64, and Windows 2003 IA64

   Supported computer systems
   --------------------------

This EFI supports the following systems:
	    IA64 (Itanium) based systems

3. EFI Files
------------

   Q24XXYYY.BIN* Contains EFI driver code.
2400.BIN* Adapter firmware file (if provided, used to separately
                    update firmware).
EFIUTIL.EFI* EFI Utility to update the driver, firmware, and NVRAM.
QL24XX.DRV* Auxiliary driver file used for updating the adapter.

   EFI\README.TXT This EFI README.TXT file
   EFI\RELEASENOTES.TXT EFI Release notes
EFI\EFICFG.PDF Adapter Configuration and Diagnostic PDF
   EFI\EFIUTIL.PDF Adapter EFIUTIL Utility PDF

*Note: 1) Required files to update the Adapter on an EFI system.
         2) The Q24XXYYY.bin file is a substitute for the actual name
contained in this kit. Reference the kit read1st.txt file for the
            actual bin file name.
         3) Q24XXYYY.bin file may contain the Bootcode + Firmware.
         4) If this package contains a separate 2400.bin firmware file, then
the Q24XXYYY.bin file will only contain the Bootcode.

4. Updating The EFI Driver, RISC Firmware Or NVRAM
--------------------------------------------------

Unzip and copy the update kit files to the root level of a USB storage
device. This will help for explanation purposes of this document.

Please do not change or rearrange the kit directories and/or files that
were unzipped and copied to the USB storage device.

Connect the USB device to the EFI based system with the Fibre Channel
   Adapter(s).

At the system's EFI shell prompt, perform a "map -r" command to map the
USB device file system. You can check the mapping as follows:

      Example:
                map -b

Locate the USB device and change to that directory.

For explanation purposes, let us say that the USB is showing as fs9
   after the map -r.

      Example:
                fs9: <enter>

The EFI shell prompt should change as follows:

      Example:
                fs9:\>

The following steps will require the efiutil.efi utility (or efiutil) to
   update the Fibre Channel Adapter(s).

You must specify a filename for the "efi_write" option. A default
   filename is not supported.

Important; you must reboot the system for the Driver/Firmware/NVRAM
   changes to take effect.

To update the adapter on the EFI system, do the following:

      Example:
                fs9:> update.nsh

To perform other manual EFIUTIL flash functions, reference the
   efiutil.pdf.

5. Setting The Configuration Parameters
